An Approach to Integrated Product Development in Germany
Date: 4th July 2012
Speaker: Ing. Karoline Lötzsch, Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Otto-von-Guericke University in Magdeburg, Germany
This presentation is a result of a cooperation established between the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Malta and the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Otto-von-Guericke University in Magdeburg. Our chair Information Technology in Mechanical Engineering is primarily concerned with research fields in product development as well as the fields of autogenetic design theory, product modelling, benefit evaluation of new technologies (BAPM), dynamic process navigation, and many others.Besides information about our location, university and student life, an approach of integrated product development employed at the Otto-von-Guericke University in Magdeburg will be presented. The research field of Integrated Product Development is part of our Master program Integrated Design Engineering. The master program occurs from a cooperation of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Research and Teaching Area Industrial Design, the Department for Simulation and Graphics, the Institute of Sport Science, the chair of Entrepreneurship and the Institute of Psychology. The master program includes all necessary basic knowledge as well as practice in cooperation projects with industry partners, which are key factors and the main focus in this presentation. Typical student projects and industry-partnered projects will also be presented.
